Cicada Press
The UNSW Art & Design Award is an annual award associated with the Paddington Art Prize. Each year the recipient is offered the unique opportunity to work alongside Master Printer Michael Kempson at Cicada Press to produce a limited edition print.
In 2018 Alan Daniel Jones and Master Printer Michael Kempson produced a 3-plate etching titled ‘The Fire Station #1’ as the recipient of the 2017 UNSW Art & Design Award.
During 2018-19 Jones continued to produce work at Cicada Press alongside artists including: Indigenous elder Uncle Vic Chapman, Euan Macleod, Elizabeth Cummings and Chris O’Doherty (aka Reg Mombassa).
In November 2019, Jones will hold his first solo exhibition of prints at Olsen Annex in Sydney. This exhibition, consisting of eight etchings and four lithographs,was printed by Master Printmaker Michael Kempson and Cicada Press.

Alan Daniel Jones is an Australian contemporary visual artist. In 2000, Jones gained his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in Sydney before furthering his education abroad as a recipient of the 2004 Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship. Jones's work has won multiple awards and has been exhibited throughout Australia, the UK, and Asia.
